Monthly favorites: November 2012

Hey hey hey, guess who is back?)

Firstly, I apologize for my absence. I was extremely busy with my work all month (and I’ll tell you some huge exciting news very soon!) and then I had some kind of problem with our platform (it felt like Blogger just ignored my IP or something). But everything is ok now and Banana is back on blogging track, ready to tell you what I’ve been wearing, watching and eating this month. So grab yourself a mug of tea and expand this long post.

The straitjacket dress

Yes, guys, you’ve read the title right, today’ll show you how to style a straitjacket. Who knows maybe you’ve just run away from a mental hospital and want to look stylish? Ok, I’m done) Anyway, I got this quilted dress from Klod, young local brand, and it was my very first purchase from them ‘cause I’ve never liked their designs and a name, but fell in love with this bad boy, which remains me of the straitjacket and Margiela designs (did you notice the lenght of the sentense? haha). You know, there’s a thing about me: I just have to own all those weird stuff. I feel like they suit me well and show my personality better (oh yes, let’s show your inner crazyness, wearing a straitjacket). Back to topic, this dress is actually very nice - warm, cozy, great for days when I’m get a bit tired of my overdone outfits and want a little minimalism.

Dress: Klod (young local brand)
Coat, platforms: Zara (new collection)
Bag: Barbara Boner
Necklace: Dad’s gift, so probably something grown-up and pompous
Lipstick: Hang Up by MAC
Nailpolish: We’ll always have Paris by OPI

And a traditional couple of bloopers for those of you who love my Gentledog:

COMING NEXT: The oyster coat, more weird thing. Interested? Follow!

Don’t let the flowers go

Hey guys, how are you?

It’s almost winter, and I’m wearing floral print shorts! Yes, I’m going into an opposite direction, ‘cause I used to wear only black and grey during the cool months, and now I’m happy with my brights and prints. I can’t actually even think about black and grey these days. BANANA VOTES FOR A COLORFUL WINTER!

Florals are my favorite print, and if you love flowers as much as I do, you would like to know how to incorporate your floral summer pieces into the fall-winter wardrobe. My main tips (oh look now I’m teaching you how to dress, how pompous...) are: 1) wear florals on the dark background, such as these shorts from CUTE last summer collection. The black background gives a winter vibe to them; 2) try to fing a floral pieces, which have darker or just more fall-ish/wintery shades on them (berries, jewels, grey, brown...). For example, mine have a quite bright turquoise flowers on them, but there’re a lot more of the mustаrdy leaves and the greyish peonies; 3) combine that print with a knits, leather, tweed or -again - just with a fall/winter colors.

I’ve tried to mix all my tips into the one outfit, hope you’ll find it helpful! By the way, the background of these pictures somehow remained me of the Harry Potter series...

Jumper, shorts: CUTE (young local designer brand; the jumper is from new collection)
Leather jacket: Neohit
Boots: Carlo Pazolini
Bag: Barbara Boner
Necklace: H&M
Lipstick: Hang Up by MAC
Nailpolish: We’ll always have Paris by Orly

Monthly favorites: October 2012

Hey guys!

Hope you all had incredible October and mysterious Halloween! As for me, this month wasn’t fantabulous at all. It has been rainy and grey outside, and so has been inside of me. I had a kind of autumnal depression, all I wanted were a blanket and a big mug of tea, so I don’t have lots of super-exciting things to show you. Anyway, as another month has pass, you’ll see what I’d been wearing, reading and watching that time.

Sunday Up Market haul

Hey guys!

I have a haul for today’s post, a haul of things I've bought this weekend on Sunday Up Market. If you don’t know what SUM is (what you might likely don’t ‘cause it’s a local thing), it’s basically a big indoor music and shopping festival where you can buy clothes and accessories by a local designers, listen to the local bands and DJ’s music, eat a lot of sweets and even attend some master classes about fashion, photography, graphic design, advertising and so on. By the way, I was also working there with my little jewelry shop Rosa Banana.

Well, here they are, my new babies. Firstly I went to CUTE corner. You’ve probably already tired to hear about how awesome CUTE is, but I’m going to carry on, ‘cause it’s my favorite designer brand and if you don’t like their stuff I don’t like you, you’re weird (haha just kidding, of course). Anyway, my first purchase is this cozy and slightly slouchy mustardy jumper from their new collection. I used to dislike mustardy shades, but surprisingly I fell in love with this little thing, it is perfect for fall and look great with my hair color. The material is adorable: it’s not knitted, but it feels very textural, soft and warm. The jumper came with a three pretty brooches, their logotypes, but I took them off, ‘cause  brooches in general are not my cup of tea.
